SUNY Poly Celebrates ACE Program Expansion, Supporting Student Success
SUNY Poly celebrated the transformative impact of its Advancing Completion through Engagement (ACE) program, with state and local representatives, students, and SUNY officials joining the campus leadership to highlight its benefits. This innovative four-year program is designed to increase student completion rates and narrow opportunity gaps by providing comprehensive support for students throughout their academic journey.

Launched system-wide at SUNY in Spring 2024, ACE provides students with wraparound support services, including financial assistance for textbooks, groceries, and transportation; personalized academic advisement; career development activities; and other resources to address barriers to success. This fall, SUNY Poly has enrolled 150 students in the program, joining 24 other SUNY campuses in the statewide rollout, which now serves 4,200 students.
The program’s roots trace back to the CUNY system, where it was launched as ASAP in 2007. Over the years, ASAP|ACE has served more than 100,000 students and proven to significantly boost graduation rates, especially for underrepresented populations. Its success has led to replication at more than 20 colleges in seven states, making it a national model for student success.
Participating students like Destinee McClain, a sophomore studying Business Administration at SUNY Poly, have already felt the benefits of the program. “The ACE program has helped me in so many ways, academically and mentally,” McClain said. “It is something that I know I can count on. [ACE Director] Dawn Burns and [ACE Advisor] Mya Kyaw constantly work hard to help students meet their goals.”
As SUNY Poly continues to expand the ACE program, it reaffirms its commitment to student achievement, equity, and opportunity. For more information about SUNY Poly’s ACE program, visit sunypoly.edu/ace.html.
