SUNY Poly’s Network and Computer Security Online Program Earns Top 50 National 2022 U.S. News & World Report Ranking

Complements High 2022 U.S. News & World Report Rankings for Best Value Colleges, Top Public Regional Universities, and Best Colleges for Veterans

Utica, NY – SUNY Polytechnic Institute (SUNY Poly) announced that the institution has been featured in U.S. News & World Report’s “2022 Best Online Program” rankings, listing the top online colleges and university programs in the nation. Of the ranked institutions, SUNY Poly’s online master’s program in Network and Computer Security: Cybersecurity ranked in the top 50 in the nation at 48th.

“U.S. News & World Report’s high ranking of SUNY Poly’s master’s program in Network and Computer Security: Cybersecurity is a strong testament to the expertise of our faculty, diligence of our staff, and dedication of our students who pursue academic success in this critical and fast-growing field,” said Dr. Michael Carpenter, Interim Dean of the College of Engineering. “This ranking places SUNY Poly among the top schools for network and computer security in the nation and shines a light on our program that prepares students for success.”

SUNY Polytechnic Institute’s online Master of Science program in Network and Computer Security: Cybersecurity offers students a cutting-edge curriculum in the field of cyber security. The program has been developed in conjunction with local experts in both industry and government, and provides students with a rigorous foundation of coursework that prepares them for management and technical positions in the fields of cyber security research and IT security management.

U.S. News & World Report maintains several general ranking categories, each with different weights assigned to them to determine the final institution positions. These categories include engagement; student excellence; expert opinion; faculty credentials and training; and services and technologies.

These online rankings follow the broader annual rankings by U.S. News & World Report, which groups schools based upon their Carnegie Classification, created by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. SUNY Poly is included in the Regional Universities North category, where it placed 12th overall out of 175 ranked universities in its 2022 list. Within its classification, SUNY Poly also ranked 2nd in Top Public Regional Universities North and was recognized as a top 20 school for  “Social Mobility.” SUNY Poly also ranked 4th in the “Best Colleges for Veterans” category; and once again placed in the top 50 “Best Value Schools” Regional Universities North.
