Student Spotlight: John Pertell ’26

From accelerated academics to cutting-edge research, John Pertell is making the most of his time at SUNY Poly. Starting college early and diving into a 4+1 computer science program, he’s already blending classroom learning with real-world experience.

Through faculty mentorship, John discovered a passion for embedded systems and wireless communication. This led him to hands-on research and the opportunity to present a published paper in Ireland later this spring.

Today, he’s applying those skills as a software engineer, working on advanced signal processing and next-generation communication systems.
