Having spent 27 years helping to shape ARC Herkimer\u2019s growth, Bass now leads an organization known for pairing compassionate supports with an innovative, business-driven approach.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re a bit different&nbsp;than&nbsp;other ARC agencies,\u201d Bass explains. \u201cWe believe we are a business first with a social mission.\u201d That philosophy has guided ARC Herkimer\u2019s expansion into social enterprises that generate revenue while creating opportunity and visibility for the people they support. \u201cThose enterprises allow the public to integrate with the people we serve.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bass began her career at ARC Herkimer shortly after earning her bachelor\u2019s degree, joining the organization as a supervisor in Community and Family Support while completing her master\u2019s degree at SUNY Poly. As the nonprofit sector evolved, so did her leadership. That role deepened her involvement not only in service delivery, but in organizational strategy and enterprise development\u2014experience that now shapes her vision as CEO. \u201cEverything we\u2019ve built offers some type of opportunity, whether that\u2019s employment, programming, or community engagement,\u201d she says. \u201cThat\u2019s what I intend to continue.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Bass, leadership is deeply personal. \u201cYou realize what the work does for the people we serve\u2014and for their families\u2014and it draws you in,\u201d she reflects. \u201cYou get to know people, and they become your family.\u201d She credits that sense of shared responsibility as the reason she has stayed and grown with ARC Herkimer for nearly three decades.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bass\u2019s leadership approach is rooted in the education she received at SUNY Poly, where she earned both her bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degrees in Health Services Management. \u201cThey didn\u2019t give you a degree \u2026 you earned it,\u201d she says of her professors. \u201cThey made you work hard, and when you were done, you knew you were prepared.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program\u2019s emphasis on critical thinking, writing, and real-world application proved essential. \u201cYou learned that leadership wasn\u2019t going to be easy,\u201d Bass says. \u201cIt was going to take time, effort, and long hours to make things happen for people.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, as President and CEO, Bass brings that same work ethic and perspective to ARC Herkimer\u2019s future.
