Women’s Fund $10k Grant Assists STEM Students 

The Women’s Fund of Herkimer and Oneida Counties, Inc. recently awarded the SUNY Poly Foundation with a $10,000 grant that will develop a retention program for first-year female STEM students.  

The Foundation is establishing a mentor program, which will be overseen by SUNY Poly Care Team Case Manager Jennifer George, that will be comprised of faculty, staff, local female business professionals and alumni to serve as advisors to the first year STEM students.  

The primary focus of the program will be female students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds currently enrolled in the following SUNY Poly programs: Network and Computer Security; Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Technology; Interactive Media and Game Design; Electrical Engineering and Electrical Engineering Technology; Computer Science; Information Science; Computer Engineering Technology; Civil Engineering and Engineering Technology; Applied Mathematics, and Biology.
