It was affordable, close to home, and allowed me to work while attending,\u201d she explains. Professors like Dr. Paul Schulman and Dr. V.K. Kool recognized her potential and encouraged her to consider graduate school, guidance that would shape her future. \u201cThey believed in me before I did,\u201d she says. \u201cThat validation was life-changing.\u201d Inspired by their mentorship, Allison earned her master\u2019s in College Student Services Administration from The College of Saint Rose, deepening the higher education resum\u00e9 she began building as a student and employee.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:49% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/bridge.sunypoly.edu\/fall-2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/08\/IMG_1977-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2268 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bridge.sunypoly.edu\/fall-2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/08\/IMG_1977-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/bridge.sunypoly.edu\/fall-2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/08\/IMG_1977-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/bridge.sunypoly.edu\/fall-2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/08\/IMG_1977-768x576.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/bridge.sunypoly.edu\/fall-2025\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2025\/08\/IMG_1977.jpeg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>Her early career in higher education included roles in student retention and as a career advisor. She found fulfillment helping students connect their passions to their professional goals, guiding others down the path she had navigated herself,\u201d she reflects. She discovered what she had really been doing in her work was helping students be the authors of their own stories, an extension of her love of writing storytelling she discovered at SUNY Poly writing articles and research papers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But something was missing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2015, Allison made the bold decision to leave the stability of higher ed and pursue a creative calling, storytelling through video. Her partner, Will, had already launched a video production business, and together they saw an opportunity to build something new together. In 2017, they co-founded Beyer Creative, a production company focused exclusively on commercial storytelling. Today, Allison serves as Owner and CEO, leading the company\u2019s vision and expansion.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her psychology training remains central to her work. \u201cVideography is about light, color, emotion\u2014and psychology is all of that,\u201d she explains. \u201cDr. Shulman\u2019s lessons on perception and color come to life every time I edit footage or set the mood for a story.\u201d Beyond the technical, her background equips her to guide interview subjects, often high-profile clients, into authentic storytelling moments. \u201cPsychology taught me how to listen deeply, respond intuitively, and lead with empathy.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Allison\u2019s accomplishments include working with SUNY system and private colleges, filming for national broadcast with NBC, and being named to <em>Albany Business Review<\/em>\u2019s \u201c40 Under 40.\u201d Yet, she remains most proud of earning her degrees despite personal challenges. \u201cCompleting my education gave me the critical thinking skills and confidence to make bold decisions, to shape my life, not just follow a path.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her advice to current students? \u201cTalk to your professors. If they see something in you\u2014listen.
