This past spring, SUNY Poly celebrated the ribbon cutting of the Poly Pantry Food Lockers, a major step forward in ensuring our students have round-the-clock access to healthy, essential food items. These state-of-the-art lockers, available 24\/7, are designed to meet students where they are, providing flexibility, privacy, and peace of mind. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The launch is part of a State University of New York (SUNY) pilot program to combat food insecurity across campuses. SUNY Poly also secured nearly $18,000 from the SUNY Transformation Fund, which will help stock the pantry, purchase supplies, and fund a part-time pantry coordinator. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each locker unit, provided through the pilot program, represents an investment of $45,000\u2013$50,000 and is designed with convenience and dignity in mind. Students simply scan a code at the centralized kiosk to open their assigned locker, with access available for up to 72 hours. This user-friendly system streamlines the process while maintaining privacy and efficiency. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

SUNY Poly proudly thanks Wolfspeed, the Food Bank of Central New York, and Aramark for their vital support in bringing these resources to our students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The need is real: according to the National Center for Education Statistics, 22% of undergraduate students nationwide experience food insecurity, more than double the rate of U.S. households. One in four students reports struggling to access enough food, a challenge that can directly affect academic performance, enrollment, and connection to campus life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

By expanding food access through initiatives like the Poly Pantry Food Lockers, SUNY Poly reaffirms its commitment to supporting every student\u2019s success because no one should have to choose between learning and basic needs. <\/p>\n<\/div>
